Introduction

As of this writing, we're coming up on 30 years since the Class of 1971 graduated from Wilton High School. Lots of things have changed since then. If you remember the PDP-8/L computer we had back then with its paper tape and ASR-33 teletype, you'll probably agree that none of us had any idea that we would have a global Internet that we could use to coordinate reunions! This is certainly an exciting time we live in... No doubt, each of you has experienced changes in your own life which have been equally dramatic. Vocations, relationships, re-locations, and all the other things that make our lives meaningful and interesting. Yet we've all shared something in common, at a place and time in our lives where we were just beginning to discover what was "out there". Of course, now we are all literally out there! I hope this web site will help us cross paths once again, no matter where we may be.

About This Site

How it Began

This site was originally constructed around the roster for the Class of 1971. Thanks to those of you (former reunion organizers) who provided me with the initial roster data to get me started, and especially to Don Offinger, who took the chance of sending me his 1971 Echelon so that I could post senior class photos (I don't have a copy of our yearbook!). I wanted to make a contribution to a successful 30th reunion of the Class of 1971 in the summer of 2001. However, I soon realized that this was both short-sighted and selfish! As a result I've modified the site design so that we can now include classmates from any graduating year. We can also accommodate non-students such as former teachers and administrators.

Work In Progress

Although this site is "live" and, for the most part, appears to be working properly, I have a list of ongoing improvements that I'm working through as time permits. I'll try my best to not "break" anything! However, if I do, I hope you'll be patient with me, and, please let me know if you experience any problems by sending email to whsadmin@dak.net. 

Commercial or Not?

This is not a commercial site! I'm doing this on my own time, and hosting the site under my personal web hosting account. I have no intention of changing this (i.e. there won't be any advertising banners, no paying sponsors, nothing commercial, nothing, nada!). I won't be charging any fees. The only thing is, if it all gets to be too much (or if I get run over by a Mack truck!), I reserve the right to cease and desist. However, knowing myself as I do, you need only worry about the Mack Truck contingency, and I'll do my best to avoid that one!

What's Here at the site?

Online Roster

This is the central feature of the site - a database of Wilton High graduates, students who relocated prior to graduation, teachers, etc. Each roster entry has places for name, address, phone number, email address and other personal information. We refer to all of this information about you as your profile. With your own personal access information (login ID and password) you can edit your profile from within your web browser and keep it current.

Please note that considerable effort has been expended to respect your privacy. The information in your profile cannot be viewed by other site visitors unless you explicitly grant permission for it to be shared. You do this by altering the Privacy Control Settings when editing your profile. You may wish to read our privacy policy.

Automatic Notification

Using the Notification Settings in your online profile, you can specify that you wish to receive an email whenever one of your classmates changes information in their profile. The email you receive will include any information that the classmate has given permission to be shared with others.

Bulletins

From time-to-time, information may be posted at the site and also sent via email to your address as listed in the online roster. These bulletins remain available for future viewing at the site. Typically, bulletins will either be about reunion activity for your class or developments here at the site.

Who's Here?

As of October, 2000, the classes of 1970 and 1971 are fully represented in the online roster. This information has been provided by former classmates who compiled this information in conjunction with reunion organization activities. For these class years, we have attempted to fill in your profile with any information which we have about you. However, we know that much of this information is outdated, some of it may have been entered in error, and other information is simply not there. You can help us out by reviewing and updating your own profile, which you can do from within your web browser. According to our privacy policy, none of this information is visible at the site until the owner of each profile logs into the site and grants permission for that information to be shared.

For class years other than 1970 and 1971, online roster entries represent folks who have found the site and joined us by submitting a signup request. Please view the roster statistics page to see the participation for all class years.

For those who are not already in the roster, we will create a new entry for you when we receive your request to signup (the signup request form is available on the login page). You will then be able to connect to the site and fill out your profile.

Volunteers Needed

If you are a reunion organizer and would like to make use of this site for your class, please contact the whsadmin@dak.net. Two things are required:

1. A GateKeeper - an individual who will take responsibility here at the site for your class year. This person works with the site administrator, and also functions as the single point-of-contact for all members of your class.
   
2. Your class roster - a database of your class members that can be incorporated into our online roster. If your database includes email addresses for some members, then you will be able to use the site's bulletin feature to notify all such class members about the site.
